Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem

Though the national park itself has boundaries, the wildlife there does not—territory and migration routes include a much larger area than the Park itself. In addition, the ecological health of the surrounding areas has a tremendous impact on the Park, so a larger, more in-depth view of the area has come to be known as the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Sun West Ranch, as a migration route and winter elk range, is part of that larger ecosystem, and so takes its conservation stewardship role very seriously.

In the interest of protecting and preserving the entire area, the conservation group Greater Yellowstone Coalition advocates for Yellowstone area wildlife, lands and waters.
