Scenery Preservation

Sun West Ranch is surrounded by evidence of incredible forces at work, for unfathomable lengths of time. It's awe-inspiring, which is why Sun West Ranch is committed to scenery preservation.

The gorgeous mountain scenery in the upper Madison Valley owes much of its splendor to geology. In some distant geologic past, basement rock—the foundation of the continent—had origins in volcanic rock and sedimentary rock from ancient ocean environments and formed the basis of the local mountain ranges. Uplift from continental plate overthrusts combined with volcanic activity to form the Madison Range. Peaks including Lone Mountain, Sphinx Mountain and Fan Mountain were part of a volcanic system. Much later, uplifting occurred again, causing block faulting the effect that gave the mountains of the Madison and Gravelly their massive appearance. Finally, massive glaciers covered the area and carved out much of the Madison Valley glacial.

Viewshed is part of the reason the home sites at Sun West were chosen with such care. The sites, while allowing the homeowner a spectacular view of the surrounding landscape, don't interfere with the views of others on the ranch or of those who pass by. Along with the application of architectural guidelines, the setting ensures homes blend in.
